Wreck Leads to DUI Arrest, Other Charges
By WestKyStar Staff
MARSHALL COUNTY, KY - A Benton woman was arrested Sunday on DUI and other charges after crashing her minivan into a wooded area.

At around 7:20 pm Sunday, deputies responded to a single vehicle crash at the 4000 block of Moors Camp Highway in Marshall County. Upon arrival, officers found a gray minivan off the side of the road in a wooded area.

Police say the driver, 26 year-old Haley Spiceland Schroader, failed to negotiate a left turn in the roadway and ended up in the woods.

Officers noticed the odor of alcohol on Schroader, and she admitted to drinking prior to the accident.

Four minor children, ages six to nine were also in the vehicle. Schroader’s husband, Blake Schroader, fled the scene prior to officers arrival.

Schroader and the four children were taken to Marshall County Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Schroader was released from the hospital and was later arrested and taken to Marshall County Detention Center. She is charged with aggravated DUI 2nd offense and four counts of 1st degree Wanton Endangerment for the four minor children in the vehicle.

Police say they have not located Blake Schroader, but charges are pending.
