Wreck Leaves IL Man Charged with DUI

MAYFIELD, KY - A one-vehicle wreck Saturday night in Graves County left two people injured and the driver facing charges. According to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office the accident happened at 9:45 pm in the 1600 block of KY 339.

When deputies arrived at the crash scene, they found the driver, 36-year-old Jeremy Madding 36 of Belleville, IL, standing outside of the vehicle. However, the passenger, 45-year-old Donald Cope of Mayfield was still trapped inside the vehicle.

As deputies began to talk to Madding about the accident they discovered that Madding appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Madding was arrested at the scene and transported to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. After receiving treatment, he was lodged in the Graves County Jail and charged with DUI first offense and wanton endangerment first degree.

Mayfield Fire and EMS was able to remove Cope from the vehicle and transport him to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. He was later transported to Lourdes Hospital.
