A two-vehicle crash in Mayfield Saturday sent two people to the hospital.

According to the Mayfield Police Department, the collision happened at the intersection of South 9th Street and West Water Street. Officers say a car driven by 22-year-old Alescia Gallatin, of Metropolis, was going the wrong way on West Water Street, traveling east.

An SUV driven by 30-year-old Eliva Lopez, of Mayfield, was traveling North on 9th Street. Police said due to going the wrong way, Gallatin did not have a stop sign at the intersection with 9th Street, and her vehicle struck Lopez's vehicle in the driver's side.

Gallatin and a juvenile in the vehicle were transported by EMS to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.
