Hammadi Terror Trial Moved to August 28

BOWLING GREEN, KY - A federal judge has bumped by one day the start of a trial for an Iraqi national facing federal terrorism charges in Kentucky.
The start of 24-year-old Mohanad Shareef Hammadi's trial is now set for Aug. 28 in Bowling Green. U.S. District Judge Thomas B. Russell didn't give a reason for the delay in a one-page order.
Hammadi is charged with conspiring to kill American soldiers and provide material support to a terrorist organization, namely Al-Qaida. A co-defendant, Waad Ramadan Alwan, has pleaded guilty to similar charges and is awaiting sentencing in October.
The two men were arrested in 2011 after an FBI sting. Agents say the two sought to send money and weapons to Iraq to assist terrorist there. Hammadi has pleaded not guilty.
