The Israeli army is intensifying its offensive on Hamas in the Gaza Strip today.

The army says it's attacked more than 160 sites in Gaza, including 118 concealed rocket launch sites, six Hamas compounds and 10 militant commander centers.

Since the offensive began Tuesday, Israel says it's attacked more than 400 sites.

A Gaza health official says today's airstrikes killed eight people, including a militant in south Gaza and an Islamic Jihad operative and some of his family members.

Four rockets were fired from Gaza toward Israel overnight.

Israel's offensive is in response to rocket attacks from Gaza, and Israel is considering a ground invasion.

The Prime Minister used his Twitter account to say:

The operation will be expanded and will continue until the firing at our communities stops and quiet is restored.
