U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced Tuesday that he has asked Senators Rand Paul (R-KY), Joni Ernst (R-IA) and James Lankford (R-OK) to draft legislation to defund Planned Parenthood.

Senator McConnell also said that the U.S. Senate would have a vote on the measure before the August recess.

“In light of the deeply disturbing Planned Parenthood videos ‎that have stunned the nation in recent weeks, I have assembled a working group consisting of Senators Paul, Ernst and Lankford and they met in my office earlier today. It is our plan to have a vote on a measure to defund Planned Parenthood sometime before Congress leaves for the August work period,” Senator McConnell said.
