Plan to Boost Lambert Airport Rates Put on Hold

ST. LOUIS, MO - Overseers of St. Louis' Lambert Airport are holding off on a plan to raise parking fees and various other sweeping charges to providers of ground transportation.
The St. Louis Airport Authority on Wednesday postponed increasing the cost of parking in two public garages to $5 for the first two hours. That would be double what the rate now to park for the first eight hours, with the fee currently capped at $21 for any 24-hour period.
Other proposed fee hikes would have affected limousines, shuttles and taxicabs.
Airport director Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge says the plan was put on hold to alleviate confusion among the would-be ratepayers. She says she hopes to bring the matter back before the airport authority by the end of the year.
