The Obama administration says some consumers risk losing financial aid for their health insurance premiums unless they clear up lingering questions about how much they make.

The Health and Human Services department says some consumers who got coverage under President Barack Obama's health care law reported income that doesn't match what the government has on record.

Those who haven't submitted documentation to clear up the discrepancies have until Sept. 30, officials said Monday.

If those consumers don't follow through, some risk seeing their financial subsidies slashed or eliminated. They would still have coverage, but it would cost them much more.

Nearly 9 in 10 people who got coverage also got financial aid. About 280,0 households have unresolved income questions. Others could lose coverage because they can't prove citizenship.
