President Donald Trump has decided to cancel Thursday's upcoming rally in Cape Girardeau.
In a press release, the president's campaign office said the "Make America Great Again" rally has been cancelled due to a major hurricane expected to make landfall later this week on the east coast.
“Regrettably, we must cancel the planned Make America Great Again rally in Cape Girardeau, Missouri this Thursday,” said Michael Glassner, chief operating officer of Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. “With Hurricane Florence on its way, we determined that this is the safest decision."
The event was set to be held at the Show Me Center at 6 p.m. Thursday.
The president was recently in the region when he spoke to 11,500 people in Evansville on August 30. It was the largest audience to ever attend an event at the Ford Center, according to the venue's management.
