Mid-Continent University on Monday announced that Winston Bennett submitted his resignation as head men's basketball coach, effective June 30.
Bennett has led the school's team for the six seasons, earning a 91-103 record, including a 24-12 record in 2010.
Bennett himself played college basketball at the University of Kentucky, from 1983-1988. He went on to play professionally with the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers.
Bennett plans to continue motivational speaking with his wife, Peggy, and says he has not ruled out coaching again at some point.
Mid-Continent University President, Robert Imhoff says he understands Bennett's decision, adding that Bennett has taken the school's basketball program to a higher level.
