Ex-Gov. Ryan Adjusting To Life After Prison
By AP
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Former Illinois governor George Ryan says he's still adjusting to private life in the weeks since his release from home confinement.

Ryan spoke briefly to The Associated Press Thursday from his home in Kankakee. He says he traveled to Springfield over the weekend to celebrate the birthday of his triplet daughters, one of whom lives in that city.

He also visited the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Museum on Saturday with family.

The 79-year-old Ryan served more than 5 ½ years in federal custody for convictions on wide-ranging corruption offenses, including racketeering and tax fraud. He was released from a Terre Haute, Ind., prison in January and from home confinement in July.

Ryan was sentenced in 2007 to 6 1/2 years in prison, but his sentence was reduced for good behavior.
