Five IL Programs get Youth Job-Training Grants
By AP
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Five Illinois organizations are getting federal money to help youths finish high school and get job training.

They'll split more than $5 million from the U.S. Labor Department. The money is going to "YouthBuild" programs in Cairo, Chicago, Godfrey, Normal and Peoria.

Sen. Dick Durbin said Wednesday that YouthBuild helps out-of-school youths get their diplomas or GEDs while providing training in the construction industry. Participants include people who have been in the juvenile justice system, aged out of foster care or dropped out of high school.

YouthBuild is run by organizations like Lewis and Clark Community College and the Peoria Workforce Development Department.
