Illinois governor Pat Quinn announced Saturday the approval of $15.3 million in local park projects, including $731,000 for projects in Metropolis and Pinckneyville in southern Illinois. 

The City of Metropolis will receive $331,000 to construct a new bathhouse at Franklin Park Pool on East 4th Street. 

Pinckneyville will receive $400,000 to develop their city park.
