Republican U.S. Senate candidate Jim Oberweis is pushing U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin to participate in more debates by releasing emails detailing

campaign negotiations over venues.

Oberweis wants seven before Nov. 4. His campaign accused Durbin Wednesday of limiting free speech, saying Durbin only agreed to one.

Durbin spokesman Ron Holmes says nothing is finalized and campaigns were still in discussions. He says the emails didn't include one asking Oberweis' campaign if they wanted to move forward with proposed dates and the question wasn't answered.

Holmes adds Oberweis agreed to one debate with his Republican primary challenger.

Durbin's four proposed events include a League of Women Voters and Chicago's WLS-TV debate. Other joint appearances include a Wednesday agricultural forum, a Chicago Tribune endorsement session and a radio debate.
