Officials Launch Cardiac Arrest Awareness Campaign

CHICAGO, IL - State officials have launched a campaign to help people who suffer from sudden cardiac arrest.
It's called Illinois Heart Rescue and is being funded with a $2.5 million grant from the Medtronic Foundation.
Gov. Pat Quinn and other officials announced the program on Wednesday.
The goal of the campaign is to improve bystander CPR in the state and give free instruction. Officials estimate such efforts could more than double survival rates for people who suffer from sudden cardiac arrests.
Emergency dispatchers, firefighters and paramedics will provide training in Chicago, Peoria and Evanston. Illinois Heart Rescue will also use social media.
