Parents Sue Over Cuts to Children's Medical Care
By AP
CHICAGO, IL - A group of parents has filed a lawsuit seeking to preserve an Illinois program that pays for home care for their medically fragile children.

Medicaid cuts signed into law by Gov. Pat Quinn changed the program's income eligibility levels.

The Chicago Tribune reports a lawsuit filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Chicago claims the changes coming in September would force children out of their homes and into institutions.

Corey Peterson is one of the parents suing and has a 5-year-old daughter who's on a ventilator 24 hours a day. She says she's worried her family won't be able to afford the girl's care.

Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services spokesman Mike Claffey says officials are working on a plan to raise additional revenue for the program.
