Peterson Testimony Enters Fourth Week
JOLIET, IL - Testimony at the murder trial of former police officer Drew Peterson is entering its fourth week.
One issue the presiding judge is expected to rule on after proceedings resume Tuesday is whether prosecutors can present allegations Peterson tried hire a hit man to kill his third wife, Kathleen Savio.
Savio was found dead in her bathtub in 2004, weeks after Peterson allegedly inquired about a hired killer. Prosecutors say Peterson killed Savio himself, but want to demonstrate he'd been plotting her murder for weeks.
Prosecutors didn't list the hit-man allegation on the appropriate pre-trial documents and the defense said they shouldn't be allowed to correct that mistake now.
Peterson was only charged in Savio's death after his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, went missing in 2007. He's pleaded not guilty.
