Quinn Pushes for Ban on High-Capacity Ammunition

Parents of three children killed in the Connecticut school shooting say a ban on high-capacity ammunition magazines will help save lives.

Nicole Hockley's 6-year-old son was killed in the December massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School. She says what happened in Connecticut can happen anywhere.

State Sen. Dan Kotowski introduced legislation late last week that would ban the sale, delivery and possession of magazines that accept more than 10 rounds. He joined Gov. Pat Quinn and Senate President John Cullerton to urged lawmakers to take it up before adjourning on May 31.

Hockley and other parents plan to give testimony Monday in Springfield.

The push comes as lawmakers face a June 9 deadline imposed by a federal appeals court to legalize concealed carry.
