Recycling Program Available To Illinois Farmers
A free pesticide container recycling program is available to Illinois farmers over the summer.

The Illinois Department of Agriculture is sponsoring a program that allows farmers to dispose of empty pesticide containers properly at collection sites across the state starting in late July.

The collected containers will be ground into chips and converted into shipping pallets, fence post, and other similar products.

Agriculture Director Bob Flider says more than 2 million agrochemical containers have been collected in past years. He says these containers would otherwise go into landfills.

The collections sites will only accept clean, dry, high-density polyethylene number 2 plastic agrochemical containers. The containers must have the caps, labels, booklets and foil seals removed.

A collection site schedule and additional information is available by visiting the Illinois Department of Agriculture's website. The link is provided below.
