Veterans with Businesses Can Get State Advice
By AP
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Veterans who own or who would like to own a small business can learn about getting work with government agencies and not-for-profits at a summit to take place Friday.

The Illinois Departments of Veterans Affairs and Central Management Services will host "Mission: Veterans 2 Entrepreneurs" in Marion at the VFW Heyde-Pillow Post.

Officials will provide information on doing business with local, state and federal agencies and many not-for-profit groups.

They will explain the process for becoming registered as a veteran-owned business, which brings eligibility for special consideration by state agencies.

The law signed last year sets a goal of 3 percent of every state contract going to a service-disabled veteran-owned small business or other veteran owners with annual gross sales of $75 million or less.
