BOWLING GREEN, KY - The opening for a planned African American Museum in Bowling Green has been bumped back about a year and the facility has also temporarily stopped the search for a part-time director.

The chairman of the museum's board of directors, John Long, told The Daily News that things are now in place to "cut off some of the potential problems" that may arise. The museum had been scheduled to debut in June of this year. The new scheduled opening is in June or July of 2013.

Vice chairman of the museum's board of directors, Lloren A. Foster, says board members realized after talking with the curators of other museums that they didn't yet have the infrastructure upon which to build the museum.
