Army Amputee Completes Air Assault School

Thousands of soldiers are physically and mentally tested every year at the Army's air assault school at Fort Campbell, but Sgt. 1st Class Greg Robinson is the first amputee to complete the grueling 10-day course.

Robinson, of Elizabethtown, Ill., toughed it out through a 12-mile road march, used ropes to jump out of helicopters and pushed through a strenuous obstacle course while wearing a prosthetic leg. He graduated on Monday from the Sabalauski Air Assault School, the training ground for the Army's 101st Airborne Division.

Robinson, who lost the lower part of his leg in Afghanistan in 2006, said he hopes the accomplishment encourages others with similar injuries. As a platoon sergeant, he said he wanted to set an example for his troops.
