During Governor Andy Beshear's Friday update, he provided a response to the Louisville protest and announced the implementation of remote drivers license renewal.

Beshear revealed that Transportation Cabinet Secretary, Jim Gray, has signed an executive order which temporarily allows circuit court clerk offices to process and renew expired drivers licenses.

Anyone whose drivers license, permit, or identification card has been lost or expired between March 1 and June 30, is now able to apply to receive a new card by mail. Additional information on this can be found at the link below.

Beshear says the order is a step in the right direction to help clerks safely serve Kentuckians.

Beshear also spoke about the protest that took place on Thursday night in Louisville in regards to the shooting death of Breonna Taylor. He asks Kentuckians to seek justice peacefully, and listen to the concerns, fears, and experiences of the African-American community.

He praised the protestors for largely following CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of the virus.

As of Friday there were 283 new cases of the virus in the Commonwealth, bringing the total number of cases to 9,464. There were nine new deaths related to the virus, while 3,231 Kentuckians have recovered.
