UPDATE: Farmer Reaches Plea Deal
FRANKFORT, KY - UPDATE: Former Kentucky agriculture commissioner Richie Farmer will be in federal court on Friday the 13th to plead guilty in a government corruption case.
Farmer had been scheduled to stand trial Oct. 22 on a five-count federal indictment. He has remained free pending trial.
The Associated Press reports that former Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer has reached a plea deal to end the corruption case against him.
If the courts and ethics commission approve the deal, the former University of Kentucky basketball star will plead guilty to two counts and will receive a sentence of 21 to 27 months.
