Fish and Wildlife Considering Asian Carp Options
FRANKFORT, KY - The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources is considering ways to keep Asian carp from spreading in state waterways and wants anglers to go online to take a survey about proposals.
The department said in a statement this month that Asian carp can compete with native fish for food and also threaten Kentucky's ecological systems, recreational boaters, anglers and the commercial and sport fishing industries.
Fish and Wildlife may propose a regulation to restrict all movement of Asian carp, regardless of how it's caught or collected. The agency is also considering a regulation that would restrict movement of all live bait-fish from the water in which it is caught or collected to any other water body to avoid accidentally moving Asian carp.
