House Republicans have unveiled their top priorities, including a proposal to reform legislative pensions, in a pre-election pitch intended to win political points with voters.

GOP lawmakers and candidates held a Capitol news conference on Wednesday to propose eliminating lifelong health insurance coverage now provided to legislators. They also proposed dropping lawmakers from the state's pension system.

House Republican Leader Jeff Hoover said the GOP also wants to reform the state tax code, rein in environmental regulations to end what he described as a war on coal and impose a rule that lawmakers have a minimum of 48 hours to review bills before voting on them.

The news conference came some two months before Kentucky voters go to the polls to vote in legislative elections.
