Out of the new cases, eight were in McCracken, four in Christian, and one in Trigg counties. There are currently 518 Kentuckians hospitalized with the virus, with 67 of those in the ICU.
Eight more Kentuckians have passed away after contracting the virus, bringing the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the state to 458. As of Thursday, 3,303 Kentuckians have recovered.
When responding to a reporter's question, Beshear said the Jefferson Davis statue in the Capitol Rotunda doesn't belong there.
"I believe the statue of Jefferson Davis is a symbol that divides us. Even if there are those who think it's a part of history, there should be a better place to put it in historical context," Beshear said. "I don't think it should be in the Capitol Rotunda."
