Grant Offered to Help Preserve KY Folk Arts
FRANKFORT, KY - The Kentucky Arts Council is offering a grant for master folk artists to teach apprentices in the same community.
The council says it is open for any traditional art form that the master artist learned in his or her own community. Art forms may include music, dance, craft or ceremonial art.
Executive Director Lori Meadows says the $3,000 grant helps recognize the state's cultural traditions and promotes conservation of Kentucky's folk arts.
Applications are due by Feb. 15, and master artists and apprentices must apply together and both must be Kentucky residents.
