Group Hopes to Link Grimes with Obama
By AP
FRANKFORT, KY - A conservative group is running a pre-emptive TV ad attacking Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes, who is pondering a possible campaign against Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell. The ad links Grimes to President Barack Obama by calling her the president's "cheerleader" in Kentucky.

The group Kentuckians for Strong Leadership says it put up $260,000 to run the ads in the Louisville, Lexington and Paducah markets.

The ad says Obama and Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid are looking for senators to "jam through" Obama's agenda.

Kentucky Republicans routinely try to connect Democrats with Obama, who lost the state in his successful runs for the presidency.

Grimes political adviser Jonathan Hurst says the ad shows McConnell's allies are worried about next year's election. He says Grimes won't be bullied by what he calls misleading attacks.
