A statement from police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts says 25-year-old Alexander Wallace Burdette and a 16-year-old youth have been charged with murder and robbery after allegedly breaking into an apartment on Monday night and fatally shooting the occupant. Another suspect, 20-year-old Rodneisha L. Murphy, is charged with robbery.
Roberts said officers were called to the scene on a report of shots fired. She said detectives determined that the three entered the apartment intending to rob the occupant and the parties exchanged gunfire.
Two of the suspects were injured and treated at the University of Kentucky hospital.
It was unclear on Tuesday whether those charged had attorneys. Police were continuing to investigate.
