Judge Steps Away from Ex-UK Player's Case
LEXINGTON, KY - A Fayette Circuit judge has recused himself from sentencing former University of Kentucky basketball player Michael Porter in a sex abuse case.
Judge James Ishmael Jr. declined to give a reason Thursday for stepping down from the case. The Lexington Herald-Leader reported that Judge Ernesto Scorsone has been assigned to sentence Porter. A new court date was not immediately set.
Porter was arrested May 15 after a Lexington police sting operation. Court documents indicate Porter and an underage girl met at church functions. Porter pleaded guilty to charges of third-degree sodomy and first-degree sexual abuse.
