An eight-year veteran of the Kentucky State Police has been recognized as Trooper of the Year.
Trooper Charles J. Senters was singled out for the award Thursday.
Senters is assigned to the state police post in London. During 2012, he issued 1,322 citations, investigated 47 vehicle crashes, responded to 433 complaints, arrested 26 people for driving under the influence and made 180 criminal arrests.
In addition to his traffic enforcement efforts, Senters also solved a 44-year-old cold case resulting in a murder indictment.
The Detective of the Year award went to Jimmy Anderson, who is a detective in the state police post in Pikeville.
His accomplishments last year included arresting multiple people in a $35,000 forgery case and helping recover more than $1.5 million in stolen equipment.
