A Democratic lawmaker from Louisville has again refused to take pay for time he spent in Frankfort for a week-long special legislative session.

Rep. Jim Wayne has routinely reimbursed the State Treasury pay he received for special legislative sessions that have been called to complete work that could have been done in regular sessions.

Wayne refunded the state $1,454 on Sept. 24 for the week lawmakers spent in Frankfort in August to redraw lines around legislative districts. He was the only one of Kentucky's 138 lawmakers to provide a refund, according to documents obtained by The Associated Press under the Open Records Act.

Kentucky lawmakers have routinely met in special session in recent years to complete unfinished tasks at a cost of more than $300,000 a week.
