KY Lawmakers Treated to Lavish Parties
By AP
FRANKFORT, KY - When Frankfort lawmakers talk parties, it's not only about their political parties.
State records show lobbyists spent over $77,000 on parties for lawmakers in the first months of the year.
Financial records filed with the Kentucky Legislative Ethics Commission show the highest priced to-do was a nearly $15,000 get-together at the Buffalo Trace Distillery.
Lobbyists crave face time with legislators, but government watchdog group Common Cause contends well-heeled lobbyists have an unfir advantage in influencing legislation.
The financial reports show lobbyists spent an average of almost $560 per lawmaker over January and February, 2013.
