LOUISVILLE - Kentucky ranks in the top ten of a newly released human trafficking report.

Last year, Kentucky had four new charged cases for criminal human trafficking and seven total active cases.

According to the Federal Human Trafficking Report, Kentucky ranked ninth for new criminal human trafficking cases and 25th in the United States for the number of active criminal human trafficking cases making their way through federal courts.

Of the two defendants of criminal human trafficking cases convicted last year, only one was ordered by the federal courts to pay restitution.
