The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet wants to hear from the public about its proposed goals for increasing involvement by disadvantaged businesses in highway projects.

The cabinet's Office for Civil Rights and Small Business Development is preparing goals for the fiscal year beginning Oct. 1. The 2017 goals and methodology will be available online at http://transportation.ky.gov/Civil-Rights-and-Small-Business-Development .

The office will host forums during June in each highway district to explain the goals and how they were established.

The cabinet says the office wants to ensure equal employment opportunity, a diverse workforce and promotion of equitable business opportunities in the state.

Written comments will be accepted through the website or through the mail.
