No cases of Ebola have been reported in Kentucky, but the state Department for Public Health says it's working on several fronts to make sure hospitals, local health departments and other health providers are ready should any cases occur.

Public Health Commissioner Dr. Stephanie Mayfield says there is concern among residents after identification of the first cases of Ebola in the U.S.

The department said in a news release that it's providing information and guidance to medical providers. The agency says it's holding internal briefings and tabletop exercises to make sure providers know how to diagnose a possible Ebola infection and how to minimize the risk of exposure.

Mayfield says patients should immediately inform health care providers if they're ill and have traveled to an affected country or had contact with someone with Ebola.
