Man Charged In Deputy's Death Pleads Guilty

Pikeville, KY - A man accused of causing a crash that killed a Pike County sheriff's deputy is scheduled to be sentenced in November after pleading guilty to second-degree manslaughter.
According to WYMT-TV, David W. Childers was sentenced on Friday in Pike County Circuit Court.
Police said Childers was speeding in January when he crossed the center line and hit former deputy sheriff James Thacker's cruiser head on, killing him.
Childers, 47, was charged with murder and being a persistent felony offender.
Prosecutors are recommending he serve 20 years in prison.
His sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 9.
