Memphis Corps of Engineers Changes Leadership

MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will soon have a change of command.

The Corps has scheduled a ceremony to mark the occasion on July 12, 10 am at the Columns at One Commerce Square, 45 Second Street, Memphis. The public is invited to attend.

At the ceremony, Col. Vernie L. Reichling, Jr. will transfer command of the Corps' Memphis District to Col. Jeffery A. Anderson.

The Memphis District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has served the citizens of the Mid-South region since 1882, minimizing flood risk, keeping the Mississippi River open for navigation, and preserving the environment for future generations.

The District's area of responsibility encompasses 25,000 square miles in parts of six states: Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Kentucky and Illinois.
