Kentucky's Secretary of State says the 2016 election was a record-breaker.

1,955,195 people cast a ballot in the 2016 General Election, a number Alison Lundergan Grimes says represents just over 59 percent of Kentucky's registered voters. She says 62.8 percent of Republican voters turned out, compared to 58.5 percent of Democrat voters and 45 percent of those registered as Independent or with another party.

Grimes says the highest turnout was among Republican men 62 and older with 73 percent of that demographic casting a ballot.
