U.S. Senator Rand Paul says he wants to allow guns in every school, movie theater and supermarket in America.
Paul made his comments in a speech to the National Rifle Association's Leadership Forum in Louisville. He was one of two Kentucky politicians who spoke at the event, which also included Gov. Matt Bevin. U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell was scheduled to speak, but a spokesman said the program was running behind and McConnell had to leave because of prior scheduled commitments.
Paul, who faces Democratic Lexington Mayor Jim Gray in the November general election, focused on displaying his pro-gun bona fides by urging the elimination of all gun-free zones, including public schools. Bevin told the crowd the country is under attack from regulation and liberal ideology, and it was up to them to "stand in the gap.''
