Richie Farmer's Child Support Hearing Postponed

A hearing to consider former University of Kentucky basketball star Richie Farmer's request to reduce his child support payments has been postponed.

Judge Squire Williams agreed to delay the hearing because it was expected to take longer than he had allotted Tuesday

Farmer, whose two terms as agriculture commissioner ended last year, is asking Williams to reconsider his child support payments because he is no longer employed. Farmer lost an election for lieutenant governor last year on a ticket with state Senate President David Williams.

An attorney said in court papers that Farmer also is scheduled for surgery in August and will be incapacitated for at least two months. The attorney declined to disclose the purpose of the surgery.

Farmer and his wife, Rebecca Farmer, were divorced last month.
