Adolph "Herky" Rupp Jr., the son of iconic University of Kentucky basketball coach Adolph Rupp, has died. He was 75.

Milward funeral home in Lexington said on its website that Rupp died Wednesday after battling cancer for 10 years.

Rupp attended the University of Kentucky from 1958 to 1962 and played freshman and varsity basketball for his father. After graduating, he coached high school basketball at Louisville Atherton, Lexington Lafayette and Shelby County.

He later farmed. Joe B. Hall, a former assistant to Rupp's father before taking over as head coach at Kentucky, said Herky Rupp stayed with farming the rest of his life.

Hall told the Lexington Herald-Leader he remembered Herky Rupp as a young child of about 7 or 8, when he would travel to Louisville with the players on the bus and "loved being around the Fabulous Five."
