State Board to Review Audit of Farmer

LEXINGTON, KY - The state Personnel Board next month will review a critical audit of the Kentucky Department of Agriculture under the former commissioner Richie Farmer.
The board will review seven findings that dealt with personnel issues in the audit released April 30, The Lexington Herald-Leader reports During a board meeting on Monday, executive director Mark Sipek gave out information about the audit, which cited a "toxic culture of entitlement" that permeated the department under Farmer, a former basketball star at the University of Kentucky.
In January, the personnel board found the department did not follow the law when changing the jobs of two high-level workers under Farmer. Personnel board member Don Blevins said Monday he wants to make sure no one was hired improperly at the agriculture department.
