The battle between Mitch McConnell and Alison Lundergan Grimes continues, as the Kentucky Democratic party has filed a complaint with the Senate Ethics Committee, shortly after state Republicans lodged a complaint with the Federal Election Commission.

Democrats claim that soon after McConnell had breakfast with a top airline
executive in the Senate Dining Room, the executive contributed to McConnell's
campaign. They claim the Minority Leader used federal money to buy the executive's breakfast, and solicited a campaign donation on federal property.

McConnell campaign spokeswoman Allison Moore says the Democratic complaint is a frivolous attempt to divert attention from Grimes' problems.

The GOP alleges Grimes accepted prohibited campaign donations from her father's company. Grimes' father and former state Democratic Party Chairman, Jerry Lundergan, owns a bus company, and Republicans claim the candidate is leasing it for less than market rates.

A Grimes campaign spokeswoman called the GOP complaint a political stunt and said their compliance experts stand by the rental agreement the campaign made.
