KY Prescription Disposal at Sheriff's Offices
By AP
WESTERN KY - Officials are urging residents who have prescription medications they no longer need to dispose of them safely, with permanent locations now across western Kentucky and throughout the state.

There are about 150 permanent disposal locations in about 100 counties.  In our area, dropoff boxes are located in almost every sheriff's office.  In McCracken County the box is located at the Paducah police department, and in Crittenden County at both the sheriff's office and the Marion police department. At this time there is no dropoff box in Hickman County.

No questions are asked when the drugs are dropped into the boxes.

Kentucky Office of Drug Control Policy Executive Director Van Ingram says more than 60 percent of adolescents who use prescription drugs for other than their prescribed purpose report they obtained them from family and friends.
