UK Lifts Alcohol Ban in Tailgating Spots
By AP
LEXINGTON, KY - The University of Kentucky has lifted its ban on alcohol for non-reserved tailgating spots in time for the school's next football game against Mississippi State.

UK President Eli Capilouto imposed the restrictions shortly before the school played South Carolina in Lexington on Sept. 29. He cited an outbreak of fighting in the area near Commonwealth Stadium before and after Kentucky's loss to Western Kentucky on Sept. 15.

On Friday, Capilouto and student President Stephen Bilas said in a joint statement that after meeting with safety officials and student leaders, they decided to move forward in a collaborative way so that the tradition of tailgating can continue. The statement says other measures will be taken to ensure student safety at the Oct. 6 game.
