LEXINGTON, KY - A group of University of Kentucky students held a campus protest at two facilities built with donations from the coal industry. The protests ended when police asked them to leave after they assembled and shouted protests inside the Joe Craft Center, which houses the athletics office and basketball practice facility.
The Lexington Herald-Leader repots the group wants UK athletics to drop coal sponsorships.
A couple dozen students marched first to UK's new Wildcat Coal Lodge, which houses the UK men's basketball team. Then they made their way to the Craft center, which was built with $6 million from Alliance Resource Partners CEO Joe Craft.
Police told the marchers upon entering the building that they would get one warning before being arrested for disorderly conduct. The protestors slowly left.
