Unemployment Rates Rise in 76 Kentucky Counties

Kentucky officials say unemployment rates rose in 76 of the state's counties between October 2017 and October 2018.

The Kentucky Center for Statistics says jobless rates fell in 34 counties and stayed the same in 10 counties during that period.

Officials say Woodford County had the state's lowest unemployment rate at 3.2 percent. It was followed by Boone, Campbell, Fayette, Oldham and Scott counties at 3.3 percent each. Kenton, Shelby and Spencer counties were next at 3.4 percent each.

Magoffin County had the state's highest jobless rate at 11.3 percent. Elliott County was next at 7.4 percent, followed by Harlan County at 7.3 percent and Carter and Leslie counties at 7.2 percent each. Clay and Owsley counties each had 7.1 percent rates, while Knott and Wolfe counties each were at 6.9 percent.
