Kentucky State Police have released a YouTube video asking for tips into the ambush slaying of a Bardstown police officer nearly two years ago.

In the video released Friday, the wife of slain officer Jason Ellis pleads for anyone with information in the killing to come forward. Amy Ellis says family members and friends cannot heal until they know who killed the officer and why.

Authorities say Ellis died after being hit with multiple shotgun blasts after he got out of his cruiser to pick up tree limbs strewn on a rural highway exit ramp as he was headed home from work. Police think the limbs were put there intentionally so he would stop.

Anyone with information should call 800-222-5555 or email EllisCaseETips@ky.gov.
